About me

I’m Kenji, a chef with 25 years of culinary experience and a dad juggling family life, but passionate about creating memorable meals. Growing up in Japan gave me an authentic connection to traditional Japanese flavors, but my professional culinary journey began when I moved to Australia.
My career has been beautifully balanced—half dedicated to Western cuisine, half exploring various Asian cuisines. After establishing myself in Australian kitchens, I spent two years in London, further expanding my culinary perspective. Back in Australia, my daughter was born with dietary restrictions, which transformed how I approached cooking as a chef. I began developing techniques and recipes that maintained flavor while accommodating different needs..

When I opened my Japanese-inspired café, I explored traditional methods like fermentation, making soy sauce and miso from scratch, while drawing from my broader culinary experience. After an injury led to my café’s closure, I spent two years teaching cookery, This experience revealed how rewarding it could be to help others gain confidence in the kitchen and share knowledge with each other—ultimately inspiring the creation of this blog.
Today, my test kitchen is our family home. My daughter’s dietary needs continue to guide my cooking philosophy, reminding me that good food should bring people together—no matter the restrictions or time constraints.
At Seasoned with Flavor, you’ll find recipes that are:
